Breathing technique created by Professor Ilse Middendorf

The perceptible breath – the way of breathing

“The perceptible breath” breathing technique forms the basis of my work as a breathing therapist. The technique was developed and explained by Ilse Middendorf-Kullrich                 (21 September 1910 – 2 May 2009).

Professor Ilse Middendorf is recognised around the world as one of the leading experts in the field of breathing. More than 60 years ago she developed the perceptible breath technique and later founded the Institute for Breathing Therapy and Breathing Training in Berlin. Her students established schools in Europe and the USA where she ran further education courses until shortly before her death.
